Take transit to Nowruz Celebrations in the Tri-Cities
Special shuttle running hourly in Port Coquitlam for Nowruz Bazaar this weekend

COQUITLAM, BC – TransLink is encouraging customers to take transit to Persian New Year’s (Nowruz) celebrations in the Tri-Cities — including the Nowruz Bazaar at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre on March 15 and 16, and the Chaharshanbeh Suri fire festival at Coquitlam Town Centre Park on March 18.
TransLink is proud to partner with the Tri-City Iranian Cultural Society to help support these events.
Nowruz Bazaar is the largest seasonal market for the Persian community in Canada. The bazaar will feature live music, theatrical performances, contests, and raffles. It will be held on Saturday, March 15, and Sunday, March 16 at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre. A special shuttle will run hourly between Coquitlam Central Station and the Port Coquitlam Community Centre on both days, between 10 a.m. and 7:15 p.m.
Chaharshanbeh Suri, which translates to Scarlet Wednesday, is a cultural celebration marking the eve of the last Wednesday in the Persian calendar year. The event on Tuesday, March 18 at Coquitlam Town Centre Park will feature live music, traditional performances, fire-jumping rituals, and a variety of family-friendly activities. The TransLink Community Outreach bus will be on-site with prizes and giveaways.
TransLink Service for Nowruz in the Tri-Cities:
- Special Shuttle (From Coquitlam Central Station): A special shuttle will run hourly 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Special Shuttle (From Port Coquitlam Station Park and Ride): A special shuttle will run every hour on the half, from 10:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
- SkyTrain: Coquitlam Town Centre Park is easily accessible via the Millennium Line. Lafarge Lake–Douglas Station is a 10-minute walk away.
- Park and Ride: Coquitlam Central Station Park and Ride or the Port Coquitlam Station Park and Ride.
- Kids Ride Free: Children aged 12 and under ride transit for free.

Phone service is available in over 300 languages, customers can call during operating hours and request assistance in their preferred language.
